How the Camino Changed Everything

It began with a travel poster in a Spanish consulate, long before I ever slung a backpack over my shoulder. Pair that with Shirley MacLaine's book and years of dreaming, and eventually I found myself lacing up my boots for my first 500-mile trek on the Camino Frances in 2007. That first journey was as tough as it was beautiful - painful blisters, dazzling sunsets, rain-soaked days, and moments where I almost threw in the towel. Yet, even with the aches and the mix of triumph and defeat, all I could think at the end was, "Let's do it again." That spark turned into ten Caminos over sixteen years, and each time I set out, I learned something new - not just about Spain but about myself. I've stayed in humming hostels, found hidden cafés, coped with Spanish weather surprises, and patched up plenty of sore feet. Through every step, I've picked up stories, tips, and lessons I now share to make your Camino a little richer, and maybe a bit lighter on the feet. If I can find joy in walking for no reason, I believe you can too.
